We received a new album on our desk at Indie News Blog today, and I think music aficionado’s are going to love it. I foresee great things coming, not being superstitious or looking too closely at coincidence, although both played a big part in my discovery of this great new band. Listening to Planet Radio(as they play the best in new and old music of all genres) while opening mail, I heard a fantastic tune called “Turn It’s Back On You” by a band named Morgan’s Road. I immediately thought that these guys were really great, a cross between Hootie & The Blowfish, The Dave Matthews Band, and Jack Johnson with a touch of Red Hot Chili Peppers. As luck or fate would have it, I opened my mail and to my delight I had received the new Morgan’s Road album “Topics Of Love” which is being released on Tuesday, January 13th, 2015.
Now I am going to repeat myself that I am not a superstitious person, but the coincidence along with really great music from this South Carolina band makes me think great things are on the way for Morgan’s Road. Their first single “Turn It’s Back On You” which is available at all the digital outlets worldwide, is the beginning of the establishment of the world’s next great JAM band.
Upon further investigation, I got this information from their website http://www.MorgansRoad.com
What do a Singer-Songwriter, a 3rd year Dental Student, a World-Renowned Fusion Guitarist, and an IT Director that live in three different cities in two different states have in common? Their individual talents and years of varied musical experience blend together perfectly and create the funky, catchy sensation that is Morgan’s Road.
Morgan’s Road features the soulful, powerful vocals and acoustic guitar stylings of frontman Ben Woodruff, the masterful guitar work and vocals of Cameron Allen, the down-low rumblings of electric bass player Matt Chmielecki, and the funky, groovy precision of drummer and vocalist Tyler Perry. The diverse musical backgrounds of the members of Morgan’s Road combine to create a sound best described as “Uniquely Funky and Soulful Jam Rock”. Morgan’s Road’s music is accessible, eminently listenable, and radio-friendly while retaining an undeniable musicality and depth. The music is totally danceable, with enough hooks and catchy lyrics to keep everyone interested for days.
Morgan’s Road is a combination of the Cameron Allen Band and the former Kingstreet band. The two bands came together in early 2011,after the tragic loss of Kingstreet’s bass player, Chris Deaver; a great friend of both bands and to so many others. To continue his legacy, Kingstreet’s lead singer Ben Woodruff and drummer Tyler Perry, who have both been playing music with Deaver for years, decided to form a band and name it after Deaver’s daughter, Morgan. When Tyler was asked about the band name, he said, “Morgan has always been the world to Deaver and it’s an honor to be able to play in his name.”
How cool is that? Dang Diggity….Dang Diggity….which is one of stand out feel good sing along songs that you will be singing to yourself all day long after you hear it….with soulful, powerful vocals on every track, along with the superb musicianship of everyone in the band, it is highly likely that you will love every song on this album. I find myself listening to the album on repeat all day, singing along to hits like Savannah, Good Good Gone, and Sugar On Your Lips. Topics of Love by Morgan’s Road is definitely Sugar On Your Lips.
